Declare Jan 26th 2011 as “Kashmir Integration Day”

via OFBJP Public Relations and Media Committee published on January 22, 2011

Jan 26, 2011 is celebrated as the Republic Day of India, the day India adopted its Constitution over 60 years ago. The Constitution declares unequivocally that entire region of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is an integral part of India. But we have leaders who do not subscribe to this sovereign principle enshrined in the Constitution and asking Indians not to unfurl National flag on 26th January in Kashmir, in absolute violation of Constitution of India. Therefore, OFBJP urges all Indians to celebrate January 26th this year as the “Kashmir Integration Day” in support of Rashtriya Ekta Yatra (National Integration Journey), organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) the youth wing of BJP in India. BJYM plans to hoist the national flag in Srinagar on Jan 26th, India’s Republic Day at the conclusion of its Kolkata to Srinagar yatra.

Indian Americans welcome this journey as it promotes the national integration of India.

It is sad and highly unpatriotic to hear the statements emanating from the state government of J&K, and deafening silence of Congress party against hoisting the Indian tri color flag in Kashmir valley. The Indian Diaspora is dismayed and considers it as an anti national act.

OFBJP USA strongly condemns the J&K Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah’s purported directive to his state’s administration and police to stop the Rashtriya Ekta Yatra in Jammu itself and not allow the Yatra to continue to Srinagar. OFBJP demands to know: is it a crime to hoist the national flag in Kashmir? OFBJP also asks government of India, why it is playing as mute spectator to such anti national utterances and policies of J&K which is jointly ruled by National Conference (NC) and the Congress party.

OFBJP USA, Indian American Associations, and Association of Kashmir Pundits unequivocally demands to know from the government of India if it is anywhere written in the Indian constitution that an Indian flag cannot be hoisted in any part of the country under any circumstances?

OFBJP President, Dr. Adapa Prasad said that a sly attempt is being made by the Congress party to divide India on religious lines and project the BJP as anti minority. He said that last time such a BLATANT AND SHAMELESS ATTEMPT WAS MADE, it resulted in the partition of the country. Shri Jayesh Patel, OFBJP President Elect added that in relentless pursuit of the Muslim vote bank politics, the Congress led UPA Government and the National Conference (NC) Government in J&K has never bothered to fully integrate Kashmir with Indian laws and with nationalistic sentiments.

OFBJP Organizing Secretary, Shri Chandrakant Patel elucidated that in early part of 2010, the congress government at the center and the NC government at the state have decided to throw caution to the wind and talked about Kashmir Autonomy only because they could not control the rioters who were sponsored by the failed state of Pakistan.

OFBJP opines that the communal Congress party should stop talking about AFSPA withdrawl there by demoralizing the Indian Army and letting in foreign sponsored Human rights activists pursue false and motivated cases against the India and Indian Army.

OFBJP USA would like to bring all religions together via a FAIR and HONEST discussion about peaceful and harmonious co-existence within the framework of Indian democracy. However, it is opposed to the policy of appeasing Islamic separatists.  INDIA needs to fully integrate Kashmir both socially and culturally and the simplest means of doing it is to hoist the Indian flag in the most prominent of places across the Kashmir valley. Kashmir was, is, and will remain an INTEGRAL PART OF INDIA.
