Senior Cong leader suspended for Digvijay gibe

Senior Congress leader from Varanasi Rajesh Khatri has been suspended from the party and a show cause notice was also served on him for making comments against party General Secretary Digvijay Singh.

“Congress state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi has suspended Khatri from the party. He has also been removed from post of party spokesman in Varanasi,” party sources said today.

Khatri had allegedly called Singh as “mentally sick” last week for the latter’s comments on Gandhian Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption, Baba Ramdev and the burial of slain terrorist Osama bin Laden. Khatri said that Singh was moving away from party principles and tarnishing its image.

Khatri had also threatened to stage a dharna during party’s state-level convention in Varanasi on May 18 and 19.
