KOCHI: Marking the end of the legal battle over the ownership of Little Flower High School at Njarackal, the Supreme Court dismissed a bunch of petitions filed by the vicar of Saint Mary’s Church challenging High Court order which held that the ownership of the school rests with the nuns of Little Flower Convent.

Dismissing the special leave petition, the Division Bench comprising Justice R V Raveendran and Justice A K Patnaik upheld the High Court order.
According to the nuns belonging to the Congregation of Mother of Carmel (CMC), the congregation is the owner of the school. But, the church vicar encroached upon their rights and made appointments to the various posts in the school.
The dispute between the nuns and the church authorities began in 2007.
Meanwhile, the nuns secured an order from the state government stating that the ownership of the school rests with the convent. But the church authorities were not ready to give in.
A month ago, the Kerala High Court pronounced its verdict on the petition filed by the church challenging the government order.
According to the verdict, the ownership of the school rests with the CMC congregation.
