Kerala: Terror suspect sent to police custody
Express News Service
MALAPPURAM:Â Mufasal Thasneem alias Muhammed Saleem, 32, who is suspected to be a key link in recruiting youths from the state to terror groups in Kashmir, was presented before the Tirur first class magistrate court on Thursday. The court sent him to the custody of Tirur Police for five days, who are questioning him on the case related to making a fake passport under a fake address in Tirur.
Hailing from Chembarikka in Kasaragod district, he was arrested by the Interpol in Dubai the other day and was sent to Mumbai. The Intelligence Bureau questioned him in Mumbai and handed him over to the Tirur police team, which had gone to Mumbai to take over Thasneem.
Thasneem, according to the police sources, forged the seals of Election Commission and other agencies to make a fake electoral ID card and other documents like SSLC certificate and ration card. He is reportedly holding three fake passports with him. His interrogation is expected to throw light on the activities of extremist sleeper cells in the state, as he was suspected to be in touch with Varghese from Eranakulam, who was killed by the Indian military in Kashmir during an infiltration attempt.
