BJP wins comfortably in Koppal by-poll
Bangalore: BJP, which has been unsuccessfully contesting in Koppal from 1972, finally managed to open its account in this northern Karnataka constituency on Thursday.
Its candidate Karadi Sanganna, who was declared elected by a margin of over 12,000 votes, polled 60,405 votes as against 47,917 of K Basavaraj Hitnal of Congress. Pradeep Gowda Malipatil of JD (S) finished third with 20,719 votes.
The electoral outcome marks BJP’s continuing winning streak in several by-elections held since it came to power more than three years ago.
