The soul of 41 year old Shasikala, who succumbed to tuberculosis, will always be grateful to Seva Bharati for having stood by her 4 tiny tots and taking over their responsibilities by adopting them. The children, who have been given a new lease of life have been instilled with renewed confidence under the care of Vivekananda Balakashramam, Chennampilly. The eldest is Jithin, followed by the twins Ajith and Vijith, 12 years. The youngest is Bijin, 9 years.

Shasikala breathed her last at the General Hospital in Adoor. During her entire battle with the debilitating disease, she was taken of solely by her children. When her condition grew worse, she was admitted to the hospital just a few days before the end came. Her children, who were studying in the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Kaipattoor used to take leave and subsequent turns in taking care of their mother. Mostly, the food given during the lunch recess from the school would be their sole source of food.

Shasikala, who was not legally wedded, found herself alone in the world, with her 4 children. Their shelter was a tiny shed like place, which was constructed by the kind neighbors. Their livelihood was met by the meagre income she received, doing menial jobs at various homes. However, things got better with the helping hand provided by Madhavam Trust, Seva Bharati, Kaipattoor.

When their mother breathed her last, the other patients at the hospital sat with the children, providing them solace. The volunteers of Janshree Mission, who provide lunch informed Adoor Prakash, Minister and Chittayam Gopakumar, MLA. The body of the deceased was brought home in an ambulance. The kindhearted patients of the hospital gave the boys a collection of Rs 4,600.

The cremation was done in the evening, the expenses of which were borne by members of Kudumbasree.

Dear  Friends,

We must realize that ,just as we entered the world with nothing ,we are destined to leave with nothing. This being the truth there can be only one real reason for our being here in this planet And that would be TO GIVE YOURSELF TO OTHERS AND TO  CONTRIBUTE  IN A   MEANINGFUL   LIFE.

When we are born we cried and the others rejoiced.
When we die let there be someone to CRY  when  we rejoice.

LET  US PUT OUR MARK IN THIS PLANET
LET US LEAD A MEANINGFUL LIFE.

The above children have been adopted by Madhavam  Swayam Sahayasangam, Kaipatoor.
