Italian Marines want TV in jail
The Italian authorities on Monday requested the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Kollam that the two Italian Marines accused of shooting to death two Indian fishermen from aboard a Naples-registered oil tanker off the Kerala coast on February 15 be given the facility to watch television in their prison cell even as the court extended their remand in judicial custody by 14 days.
This was the second time the court extended the period of remand of Italian Marines Latore Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone, presently lodged at the most comfortable cell available in the Central Prison in Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. The two, arrested on murder charge on February 19, were produced before the court on Monday as their remand period expired.
