Modi handed Over 25,312 Appointment Letters as part of ‘Swami Vivekananda Youth Employment Week’.

Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi will hand out 25,312 appointment letters to youths from 6 districts of South Gujarat at Surat on behalf of private employers. Yesterday he handed over 13,380 appointment letters to youths. The employment programme was arranged by Narendra Modi as part of ‘Swami Vivekananda Youth Employment Week’.

“Not a single youth, having professional skills, will remain jobless in Gujarat,” said Modi at the function yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Narendra Modi pointed out that youths were hesitant when it came up to taking courses at ITIs. But the response was overwhelming with state government bringing about far-reaching change in the sector of industrial training that was amply provided at these centres. The Chief Minister said that while creating a perennial pool of skilled manpower in Gujarat, the state undertook the task of competing with China.

“Swami Vivekananda exhorted youths to play football instead of mantra-chanting in order to awaken their inner strength. Through this campaign the State government aims at motivating youths so that they imbibe Swamiji’s message, prove their inner strength and work for taking their country ahead,” said Modi making it clear that Gujarat’s department of labour had conducted surveys in the various industrial estates of Gujarat. This helped officials identify vacancies and conduct placement fairs that will help facilitate employment for youths. Modi said the state government finds the ITI courses very important in providing technical and professional skills to the youths. Modi voiced out the state government’s desire to perceive ITI programmes with dignity, thereby making the same a prioritized task of the government.
“India is not a country of conjurers and snake charmers. Our youths have already showed the world their mettle in the field of information technology,” continued Modi, while speaking on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that India, with 65% of its population of youth happen to be below 35 years. This is an ideal scenario, which can be harnessed, to establish a strong hold in the world scenario.

Modi said that Gujarat has had 275 ITIs in the last 40 years, with the number witnessing a steep hike to 1054 in the last decade. ITI trainers have grown from 3000 to 6000. “The budget for the skill development programmes was Rs.107 crore in the past, which has reached to Rs.525 crore today,” said Modi. He added that Gujarat government has also increased the degree/diploma seats from 13,000 to 90,000. So, now even a youth from a poor family can also go for engineering study.

Earlier Modi had handed 13,079 appointment orders to youths of 8 districts of Saurashtra-Kutch zone and 13,229 orders to youths of 6 districts of Central Gujarat.
