Vellapalli Natesan, general secretary of the SNDP, on Tuesday said that Hindus need to unite and need unduly worry abou the criticism all around for such a move.

Speaking at a function in Kaimanam Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, Vellapalli said that Hindu unity is not against any other community but for the survival and upliftment of the downtrodden among Hindus who do not get any protection from the government.

Earlier Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan in his speech pointed out that while Christians and Muslims are united, Hindus can never be like that.”Hindus need to tread the path cautiously and need to ensure communal amity,” he said. Karthikeyan also expressed fear that move to organize Hindus will weaken the age old ethos of our culture and may lead to confrontation with other organized communities.

However, Vellapalli countered this viewpoint and said that Hindus need not bother much about such disapproval raised against Hindu unity.

“Here minorities are organized and politicians today appease them at the cost of public exchequer to ensure votes. Hindu unity is the need of the hour and it is not against any community but for self survival,” Vellapalli said amidst cheers and loud applause from the audience, in an obvious reference to the address by Speaker G Karthikeyan,.

“Widows from minority community are given Rs two lakhs each, but not to Hindu widows. Does that mean that Hindu widows need no solace?” he asked. SNDP Yogam general secretary who is also the chairman of Hindu Parliament said that instead of wailing and complaining, Hindus need to find a solution to this double standards and only unity among Hindus will give a befitting answer to this appeasement policy.
