Uttarkhand rescue operations: Army works round the clock; RSS steps in

Joining the 5000 Army men who are engaged in rescue and relief operations in the flood ravaged Uttarkhand are the volunteers of Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh, who have have swung into action in the districts of Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.

RSS volunteers have also joined the Army in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar and Pilibhit districts of Uttar Pradesh to provide relief to the stranded civil population devastated by unprecedented floods.

Along with rescue operations that are going on a war-footing, RSS has also launched the ‘Uttaranchal Daivi Aapda Peedit Sahayata Samiti’ for donations. Assistance centres by the RSS have been set up at Dehradun, Rishikesh, Rudraprayag, Agastya Muni, Badrinath, Chamoli and Joshimath

In Harsil, Rudraprayag, Joshimath, Mana, Gagriya, Govindghat and Dharchula, the Army has set up assistance centres to provide shelter, food, first aid and fresh water to hundreds of pilgrims stranded at various locations due to torrential rain and swollen rivers. Medical teams have also been established at medical aid posts, with four ambulance vehicles being deployed to evacuate injured people.
