Letter “threatens 12 Sangh Parivar leaders with death, if Madani is not released”
A typed letter, posted from Palakkad to the BJP office in Coimbatore has threatened to kill 12 persons belonging to various Sangh Parivar organisations if their demand for immediate release of Abdul Nassar Madani was not met immediately, police said. Madani, the Kerala-based PDP leader is an accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts.
The letter read “we urge the immediate release of our leader Abdul Nasser Mahdhani with immediate effect. If you fail to do so by withdrawing all cases registered against him in Bangalore, you will witness the funeral your leaders. Stop Lotus Channel immediately and say publicly sorry to Islamic society”.
“The letter sought immediate release of Madani lodged in a jail in Bangalore. It threatened to kill leaders of various organisations of BJP, including Hindu Munnani and VHP, if their demand was not met,” police sources said.
Tamil Nadu BJP Secretary, GKS Selvakumar and district BJP president, Nanda Kumar met city Police Commissioner A K Vishwanathan and sought protection to front-ranking leaders of these organisations.
The city is under tight vigil and surveillance of the police since the the murder of BJP Tamil Nadu General Secretary V Ramesh in Salem on July 19. Senior BJP leader LK Advani is scheduled to attend a condolence meeting at Salem on August one.
