An appeal from Sri P Parameswarji regarding the installation of Swami Vivekananda statue at Trivandrum

Dear Sir,

We are sure, you are well aware of the country-wide celebrations going on in connection with Swami Vivekananda`s 150th birth anniversary. To commemorate this occasion and also the world renowned saint’s visit to this city 120 years ago, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has agreed to the appeal of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari and Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Thiruvananthapuram to install a life-size bronze statue of Swamiji at Kowdiar Palace Park. A committee of very eminent citizens of Thiruvananthapuram, with worshipful Mayor as Chairperson and His Highness Utradam Thirunal Marthandavarma as Chief Patron, has been constituted for this purpose.

The foundation stone for installing the statue was laid at a public function by Shri. Hansraj Bharawaj, His Excellency the Governor of Kerala, on 29/10/2012

The total outlay for the Statue and the over-arching structure with proper landscaping is
estimated to be about Rupees One Crore. The moulding work of the statue is in progress and the Honorable Vice-President of India Sri. M. Hameed Ansari has agreed to unveil the statue on 11th September 2013, the day on which Swamiji delivered the epoch making speech at Chicago.

We feel that the corporate bodies, business concerns and other institutions can help in a big way by contributing generously for the venture. The statue of Swamiji will add to the pride and prestige of our capital city. Besides being a magnificent monument for Swamiji it will also become a tourist destination of Thiruvananthapuram. The names of institutions which contribute Rs. 1 lakh and above or those who sponsor any part of the work will be acknowledged by displaying their names at the notable place in the park.

We request you personally to involve in our resource mobilization drive for this noble cause.
