The Prime Minister’s visit to Jammu-Kashmir saw the fruition of a unique educational venture, which has been conveniently ignored by main stream media. According to sources, Narendra Modi visited Uri, during the course of his visit to JK and gave sanction to classes 11 and 12 for the only existing school at the place.

“After the flag off, Modi visited Uri, a place just 4 km away from LoC. He inquired about education scenario of the place and got to know that the place, in its entirety had only a single school- the Kendriya Vidyalaya. However, the school had classes only upto class 10. When the Prime Minister inquired about class 11 and 12, he was informed that students had to travel all the way to Srinagar, which lay 70km away. Daily commuting to the place was next to impossible. Modi immediately called up the minister for Human Resource Development. By the time he left.
