With leaders of LDF and UDF stooping to the lowest of levels of retaliation, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brilliant expose of the ghastly lives of Adivasis of Attapady, a morphed picture of BJP state president Kummanam Rajashekharan began doing rounds in Kerala. Needless to say, Communists who have initiated this mean deed have tacked on the face of Kummanam Rajashekharan with the body of a starved human, in all their efforts to deride the BJP leader, who has always been known for his untiring efforts in trying to uplift the down trodden section of society for over thirty years. Responding to the matter through his Facebook page, Kummanam said that slogans of a second Kerala model should reverberate all around Kerala, instead of resorting to ill conceived humour based on the hues of his skin and way of living showing him as one of them, at a time when there are hapless people around tormented by pangs of hunger.
“A picture depicting my head having been tacked on to the shrivelled body of a person who has endured abject poverty is widely being circulated in social media by supporters and the enlightened thinkers of Communist Party,” said Kummanam adding that the scorn with which they gauge those downtrodden people, who belong to the lowest rung of society struggling continuously against hunger and the severest of conditions of life, is amply evident.

Stating that the “double standards in values of Left parties, who claim to be redeemers and voice of those sections who toil, who are exploited, who are suppressed and who have been sidelined in society, have so well been exposed.’
“Your hatred for Bharatiya Janata Party can be comprehended. But to deride me, a Karyakarta of BJP, you chose to tack the body of someone in dire situations, with my face, just to depict me as someone who is so lowly? You never bothered to take into consideration that the person (whose body has been depicted) should be given at the least, the same empathy given to a fellow being? Is it befitting for Communists to don an attitude that those enduring abject poverty should be perceived as being cast down?” lashed out Kummanam.

Vocalizing his convictions of life, Kummanam said, “As far as I believe, those hilly areas which are replete with colonies of people belonging to scheduled tribes and other down trodden people, who have been reeling in poverty, are not not tokens of denigration. Instead they are places where I have spent the major portion of my life, where the people have been my kith and kin, who have in turn seen me as their own. I take pride in this. Discussions being indulged in by political bigwigs should be replete with ideas for development, instead of those tactics indulged in by neo liberals which turns its face only towards vote bank. Let the slogans of a second Kerala model be raised, instead of ill conceived humour based on the hues of my skin, my style dressing and way of living showing me as one of them, at a time when there are hapless people around us- those tormented by pangs of hunger.”
