Death threat to BJP MP Pratap Simha for opposing Congress move to hail Tippu as state hero

BJP’s Mysuru MP Pratap Simha, who has been at the forefront of opposition to Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary celebrations, has reportedly received a death threat on Facebook, where a picture of Simha was posted alongside a VHP activist who died in clashes between pro- and anti-Tipu Sultan groups in Kodagu district on November 10.

A complaint has been registered with the city police commissioner of Mysuru, saying that “an organization named Mysuru Huli Shahid Millat Mahan Tipu Sultan Indian Muslim has issued the threat and has posted the photograph of Pratap Simha alongside VHP leader, Kuttappa, who died on Tuesday at Madikeri, with a warning asking him to think of ways not to meet his death in this fashion.”

Pratap Simha delivered his complaint to city police commissioner, B Dayanand, after which a complaint was registered in Vijayanagar police station there.

The city commissioner said policemen would be posted near the MP’s residence in view of threat to his life.
