Sudarshan TV channel goes on air

via United News of India published on December 25, 2005

Claiming to be an ambitious project to highlight the richness of India’s culture, religions and languages, Sudarshan TV has gone on air, adding yet another channel to the country’s booming electronic media.

“It is India’s first socio-patriotic news channel and has been successfully soft-launched. We plan to launch it commercially soon,” channel Chairman Suresh Chavhanke said.

Chavhanke said the channel is currently telecast in 172 countries. “We will set the benchmark in the media industry by proving that the TRP cannot be gained only by showing vulgarity and adding unnecessary sensation to any issue. Our motto is not only to make our channel number one but also to make the national number one.”

The channel would explore the nation’s wealth of ancient and modern literature, music, art and architecture, he said, adding that the channel owed the responsibility of spreading social awareness by inculcating patriotism among the country’s youth.

“The channel will not only succeed content-wise but also be a big hit commercially,” he said.
