Porayar: Seva Bharathi, the service wing of the RSS, would renovate the historic Ratna Poorneswari Amman temple at Poompuhar in Nagapattinam district, which was ravaged in the tsunami attack.

The temple was situated at the land near to the confluence of the Cauvery river with Bay of Bengal.

The Seva Bharathi had earmarked Rs 12 lakh for the project. The proposed structure would have a three-tier Rajagopuram, to be designed by expert sculptors from Sivaganga district.

The temple would be built on the basis of Chettinad architecture, Seva Bharahi sources said.

The ‘bhoomi puja’ for the temple construction work was performed yesterday, they added.
