Tension prevailed in UP village following forcible conversion
SULTANPUR (UP) : Tension prevailed in Ramchandrapur village of the district today following the alleged conversion of some dalits to Christianity and the subsequent attempts by VHP and Bajrang Dal workers to reconvert them to Hinduism, Police said.
As many as 36 dalits allegedly adopted Christianity yesterday following which VHP and Bajrang Dal members reached the village this morning and began a “yajna” (prayer) to reconvert them as Hindus, they said.
Security personnel have been deployed in strength in the village to maintain law and order, they said adding senior officials have also reached the spot to monitor the situation.
