‘Infiltrators ruling the roost in Assam’

VIJAYAWADA: Bangladesh infiltrators have ruined the social, political and economic life of Assam, according to Arjun Roy, a social worker from this north-eastern State. Roy said the infiltrators are now in a position to decide the fate of elections in 45 of 125 Assembly segments.



Arjun Roy was here to participate in a meeting organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisahd (ABVP). He stressed the need to create awareness among people on the problem. He urged the people to save Assam from infiltrators.



Speaking to newsmen, he said it was due to infiltration the Hindu popoulation is decreasing. In six districts, he said, Muslim infiltrators are more than 50 percent of the population.



He said as many as 18 terrorist outfits are active in Assam. After Kashmir, ISI is concentrating in Assam. Over 38 Muslim fundamentalist organisations are extending support to them, he alleged.



The infiltrators have encroached 85 lakh acres land of the local population, including several religious places, he observed.



The impact on economic conditions is very dangerous, he said. According to him, it has affected the employment of local people.



Roy expressed concern that the influx is leading to incredible crime rate.

ABVP State secretary K Raja Reddy appealed to all the political parties, student and youth organisations to end politics of appeasement and unitedly to save the nation from the problem of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Industrialist K Chandra Mohan was present.
