Selection of UGC Chairman : The leftists strikes again
Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat was appointed as the Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday. He was promoted to the post, replacing the present acting chairman and Vice Chairman of UGC Prof. V.N. Rajashekharan Pillai.
Prof.V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, the acting chairman of UGC was initially considered for appointment as Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), but was later dropped due to objection of the leftist party leaders and some academics from Kerala. Prof. Rajasekharan Pillai is currently Vice Chairman of UGC and was the Acting Chairman of UGC since 27 September 2005. It is to the knowledge of every one in Kerala that as a Vice Chancellor of MG University, Prof.Rajasekharan Pillai has rendered valuable service and as Vice Chairman of UGC too he has been providing all types of support to the educational facilities in the country. Why has he fallen from grace of the leftists and a group of academics?, Has it been for an apprehension that the so called `brains in the leftist camp’ found any symptoms of Hindutva in him?
It was one of the strong demands by the leftist on UPA government not to appoint Prof. Rajasekharan Pillai as the Chairman of UGC. The leftists are very successfully implementing their anti Hindu educational agenda in the country and a person like Prof. Rajasekharan Pillai could be thorn in their flesh and he has been kept away.
