Rajasthan High Court today said while considering the anticipatory bail application of M A Thomas, the publisher of the controversial book “Haqeekat”, that it contained extremely abusive language insulting the Hindu and Jain community.

Justice R J Goyal while rejecting the bail application said that the book Haqeekat deplored the Hindu deities.

The Court observed that the words used in the book was an attempt to insult the religion and religious believes of Hindus and Jains and to create disharmony between different religious groups.

On perusal of the book, the Court said, it contained highly abusive language hurting the sentiments of the Hindus. The Hindu Gods and Goddesses and Jain Saints were depicted in the book in “extremely abusive and highly insulting language” and therefore, the Court said, bail cannot be granted to Thomas. The Court dismissed his application.
