Signature campaign against Sethu Samudram project

The Chennai-based Rameswaram Ramasethu Protection Council RRPC) would launch a nation-wide signature campaign against the Central government’s proposed Sethu Samudram project for submitting to the President.

The campaign would commence on the Ramnavami day on Apr 07 and for this purpose various Hindu organisations in the country are being geared up, according to the RRPC sources. They said that the “Ramasethu” which was constructed during the period of Lord Sri Ram, was a historical and archaeological site that needed to be conserved. The holy “theertham” Dhanushkodi and the Sri Ramasethu have to be preserved and protected, they said. This archaeological marvel has a significant role to play to connect the missing links in the Indian history in general and the South Indian history in particular.

They said that there had not been any research on the Ramasethu. However, following the release of a satellite picture taken by the NASA of the Sri Ramasethu there has been some interest among the scientists.

According to them if the proposed Sethu Samudram project is implemented with certain changes to the proposed plan then there won’t be any harm to the historical Sri Ramaseth and Dhanushkodi. This fact would be presented before the President when the RRPC delegation calls on him to submit the mass petition, they added.
