Official media becoming Congress mouthpiece: BJP

DEHRA DUN: Accusing the official media of becoming the “mouthpiece” of the Congress and “blocking” the coverage of its yatras, the BJP said the government should provide information as to how much airtime is being given to coverage of other political parties.

“The coverage of rath yatra being undertaken by Advaniji and me is being blacked out on both Doordarshan and Akashvani (All-India Radio) whereas the reports related to Sonia Gandhi’s election campaign in Rae Bareli are being given prominence. It seems this media has become the official mouthpiece of the Congress,” BJP President Rajnath Singh told reporters here.

He said the autonomy of Prasar Bharti had to be redefined in such a scenario. “This we believe is Congressisation of Prasar Bharti and the BJP has strong reservations on the issue.”

Stating that since this media was being run with tax payers’ money, Singh asked the government to come out with information detailing as to how much time airtime was given to different political parties
