Dubai jewellery businessman behind RSS HQ attack?
A Mumbai businessman with a jewellery business in Dubai is a key suspect in the failed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) attack on the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.
The Intelligence Bureau was aware of the attack plan after it was revealed by a LeT cadre arrested with a huge arms cache in Aurangabad/ Malegaon last month.
The attack was expected in May but the LeT hit team arrived late, and other logistic problems halted operations for a fortnight, in which terrorist calls were traced to Karachi and Dubai.
Officials said two Mumbai LeT sleeper cells assisted the attack, which are being probed.
The IB lead on the attack was given to Maharashtra and two bordering states, with the intelligence that the terrorists would dress in police uniform, which enabled their effective neutralization.
