Women’s abuse in Islam exposed in Imrana trial

A year after she was asked by a local panchayat to abandon her husband as she had been raped by her father-in-law, a Muzaffarnagar court on Thursday pronounced Ali Mohammed guilty of raping Imrana.

A week after she was raped on June 6, 2005, the panchayat of the Muslim community asked Imrana, the mother of five children, to treat her husband Nur Ilahi as a son and declared their marriage ‘haraam‘ or illegal. Imrana defied the panchayat’s ruling and continued living with her husband.Leading Islamic seminary Darul-uloom Deoband also decreed that she could no longer live with her husband.

Even the Pseudo seculars who vehemently argues for the right of Minorities in the nation got shocked after knowing how exactly the Islamic law ,shariat treats a women.
