UP Election : BJP has came back with bang
By winning eight out of twelve Mayoral Elections in UP, the BJP has came back with bang. These results are indication of shape of the things to come in 2007 Assembly Elections in UP. Party expresses its satisfaction over the local body election results and congratulates its UP unit for good performance despite all electoral malpractices and violence unleashed by Samajwadi Party government led by Mulayam Singh Yadav. This is clear evidence of how the Mulayam Singh government is willing to subvert election process in order to retain power. The public has expressed their anguish in form of ballot, wherever it was possible. Bharatiya Janata Party demands that taking cue from these elections, the forthcoming Assembly Elections must be held under President’s Rule.
BJP has won Gaziabad, Agra, Varanasi, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Kanpur and is leading in Lucknow. The Muradabad voters elected BJP by 3,000 votes but the administration declared SP the winner by 1800 votes by declaring 8,000 + votes of BJP as invalid. In Meerut BJP’s candidate Mrs. Madhu Gujjar defeated wife of Haji Yaqoob by over 1 lakh votes. BJP wrested Kanpur back from Congress huge margin of over 50,000. The winning margins of all the BJP candidates were high, which is Gaziabad (40,000 +), Agra (26,000 +), Varanasi (32,000 +), Gorakhpur (53,000 +).
