CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE BUREAU ORDERS INQUIRY ON ALL PASSPORTS ISSUED FROM KOZHIKKODE PASSPORT OFFICE

In the wake of information being unearthed by the intelligence agencies based on revelations from those arrested in connection with the passport found with the Pak national Fahad, the Central Intelligence Bureau has ordered an inquiry on all passports issued from Kozhikkode passport office during the past five years.

It has now become clear that many Pak terrorists have secured Indian passports disguising as Keralites and a large number of such passports have already reached Pakistan. The alarming fact has been that, all such passports were procured from the Police Passport Cells which were set up at District headquarters to speed up issue of passport to the general public. Such a set up was arranged to alleviate the delay that usually occur when the passport offices waited for police verification reports and then issued passports to applicants. Maximum such passports to the Pak nationals were issued from the passport cell at police superintendent’s office in Malappuram district. Fahad also obtained his passport from this cell with the help of travel agents. With that Indian passport, Fahad freely travelled to all important cities in India within a short time.

It is clear that a racket involving personnel from the police passport cell, Malappuram police station, travel agents and postal employees were helping issue of passports to good number Pak nationals. The inquiry only could reveal as to how many such passports were issued, how many people have entered India with such passports and even settled down with business, marriage, religious activities and such other cover ups. Even before the terrorist attacks on Marad beach, central intelligence agencies have warned the government about the growing terrorist activities in Malappuram district, especially the coastline. Stern action from government without political considerations could have unearthed these kinds of anti-national activities a long time ago which could have helped to safeguard the security of this nation and its people.

We could only hope and pray that wisdom prevails and concerned authorities take things seriously at least at this time.
