RSS to protest reservation on the basis of religion
Patna, Nov 28: Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS) will vehemently protest any move to reserve government jobs on the basis of religion as it would be against the constitution.
“Any move to reserve government jobs on the basis of religion will not be tolerated…The RSS will vehemently protest any such move,” RSS national executive committee member Ram Madhav told reporters here.
The issue was widely debated in the constituent assembly before deciding to provide reservation on the basis of caste, hence there was no rationale for extending reservation on the basis of religion, he said adding as per his information while implementing Mandal Commission recommendations on reservation in government jobs 60 castes among Muslims were provided the benefit of the quota.
The RSS leader blamed the UPA government at the Centre for “increased activities of terrorists” in the country.
“While other countries are making new laws against terrorism, the UPA government annulled the existing POTA law,” he said.
Expressing concern over delay in hanging Afzal Guru, an accused in attack on Parliament, Ram Madhav said “the vote bank politics is helping terrorism raise its head in the country”.
On Arunachal Pradesh, the RSS leader said the state was an integral part of India and talks should be held for recovering land under China’s possession
