1.5 lakhs Bangladeshi nationals in India, says BSF Director General

The Director General of Border Security Force (BSF), A. K. Mitra, disclosed on November 28 that at least 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi nationals who came to India in the last five years with valid documents have not returned back, reports Indian Express. Mitra said around 11,000 infiltration attempts were intercepted in 2005. He mentioned that the figure for 2006 so far is 8,000. According to official figures, between January 2005 and November 2006, 26 foreign nationals were arrested on charges of espionage, including 24 Pakistanis, and one each from Nepal and Bangladesh
