Mumbai: Members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held demonstrations outside the Head Office of ‘JAM†for denigrating ‘Shiva-lingam’ under the excuse of creating awareness among people about AIDS. Such mockery of ‘Shiva’ worshipped by thousands of Hindus has hurt their feelings. There have been strong reactions against the unpardonable offense committed by the periodical. The printing of the magazine was done at Byculla, Mumbai. Therefore, some of the staunch Hindus first lodged complaint against the publisher and editor of the magazine at the Byculla police station. Thereafter, HJS lodged a complaint at Bhandup police station in Mumbai. Further, on behalf of HJS, demonstrations were held outside the Head Office of the magazine. The office of the magazine was locked through out the day. Tight security was provided by police at the office.
Shri. Ramesh Shinde the spokesperson of HJS said that anyone and everyone is trying patience of tolerance among Hindus and ridiculing their deities. In case, the guilty is arrested, he immediately renders an apology and not only gets away with his offense but also gets ready to repeat the offense. Such things will not be tolerated now. A charge has to be brought against the editor and strict action has to be taken against him. Members of HJS were raising slogans and displaying placards during the demonstrations. Media persons from various channels were present.
The matter has been taken note of by the Social Welfare branch of the police and it has been learnt that a case has been filed against the editor and publisher of the magazine. A complaint has also been lodged at Panvel police station by a member of HJS in the presence of members of different religious institutions and political parties.
