No law and order in UP: Vajpayee

New Delhi: Former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today sought Central intervention in Uttar Pradesh in the wake of the shocking discovery of skeletons from the Nithari village, saying there was no law and order in the state.

“There is nothing like law and order in the state and the Centre should intervene,” he said here.

The BJP has been demanding imposition of President’s rule in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Assembly elections in the state.

The former prime minister, however, parried questions as to why no senior leader from his party has so far gone to Nithari whereas Congress chief Sonia Gandhi visited it, saying the BJP was not competing with the UPA chairperson.

“We have no competition with her,” Vajpayee remarked.
