New Delhi: Delhi police arrested four Jehadi Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were arrested after a fierce gun battle here near Delhi Police headquarters, Sunday night.

A foreign-made weapon, three kg of RDX, four bomb detonators, six hand grenades and $10,000 in cash were recovered from the four militants

The four men had been planning a terror strike in central Delhi after their attempt to create mayhem during the Jan 26 Republic Day celebrations were thwarted due to the heavy presence of security forces in the city.

More than 50 rounds were fired by the police and the militants in the fierce shootout near the Income Tax Office (ITO) crossing at around 10.30 p.m.

The terrorists have been identified as Shahid Gaffoor, a resident of Sialkot in Pakistan and Bashir Ahmed, Fayyaz Lone and Abdul Majeed – all from Jammu and Kashmir.

The arrests came against the backdrop of the station master at the Old Delhi Railway Station receiving a letter purportedly sent by outfits al-Qaida, JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba, warning of attacks at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and Vaishno Devi shrine.
