Dehradun, Feb 08: Pledging to implement a Hindutva agenda in Uttarakhand, BJP today said it will bring an Anti-Conversion Law and set up a Cow Protection Commission if voted to power.
Releasing the party’s poll manifesto here, BJP in-charge of the state Ravishanker Prasad said it will also work for development of all religious centres including temples.
“We are going to impose a ban on cow slaughter. In this regard, we will set up a Cow Protection Commission,” said Prasad, who was flanked by former Union Minister B C Khanduri and state BJP president B S Koshiyari.
He said the BJP will enact an Anti-Conversion Law to check forceful religious conversions.
Promising decentralisation of power, he said a village secretariat will be developed at the block level.
Prasad said illegal migrants in the state will be checked and a new information policy formulated.
Misuse of ‘lal battis’ (ministerial-level posts) and various funds like Chief Ministerial Discretionary Fund will be stopped.
Unnecessary foreign trips of ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats will be banned, he said, adding the party will “see to it that the permanent capital issue is resolved amicably”.
Prasad said the BJP will also work towards promotion of the state’s culture and heritage and Sanskrit will be accorded the status of state language along with Hindi.
