TN police files FIR against Pinarayi Vijayan
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu police has registered a FIR against Kerala CPI-M secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, for his failure to produce the original licence of his pistol and take back the bullets, seized from him while boarding a flight from Chennai airport to New Delhi after his arrival from Thiruvananthapuram on February 16.
Vijayan had submitted a photocopy of the licence and agreed to take back the bullets, which he had said, was not removed from his suitcase due to ‘memory lapse’.
Police sources said normally in such instances, incidents were recorded in a community service register and would give the person some grace period to produce the original documents. The FIR had been filed under various Sections of the Aircrafts Act and Indian Arms Act, police said.
