Unify and Reform Hindu society- RSS

via HK correpondent published on March 18, 2007

The strongest organisation that has always been a thorn in the activities of conversion activists has always been the RSS. The RSS as moved with time unlike other Hindu organisations and over the years fighting for the Hindu community have gone deep into the roots of the Hindu culture.

Recent statements emerging from the three day conclave of the RSS suggests a very mature outlook and careful study of various matters that have led to the recent day slow decay in the Hindu community.

Shri Mohan Bhgawatji has told at a press conference that the Sangh is acknowledging that fact that certain ills in the Hindu society is also paving way for active conversions in the country. he has also called for the need of the society to reform itself in the modern world.

Addressing a press conference on the conclusion of a three-day conclave attended by 1,400 delegates from different parts of the country, Bhagwat said:

‘Our objective is to call upon masses to sink differences of caste, sect, religion as well as of political affiliations in the larger interest of building social harmony and
goodwill.
’

He said that, ‘unless Hindu society gets rid of its ills, we cannot set a good example for those belonging to other faiths.’ The RSS has always favoured for caste discrimination to be removed from the society and  follows a strict code of anti-caste policies within its organisation where there is no differentiation between caste at all.It
called for the removal of caste barriers in temples, at sources of water and in cremation grounds.

The sangh called for economic development schemes to be distributed evenly to the poorer section irrespective of religion, caste or creed. The Sangh proclaimed its opposition to the SEZ policy and called to remove foreign traders from retail trade in India.

The three-day conclave referred to attempts by various Hindu organisations and saints and appreciated their call for throwing open the doors of temples to all Hindus. It also passed a resolution resolving to strengthen social harmony.

“We can fulfil the task of creating harmonious and healthy society by securing social justice and economic empowerment to the deprived sections,” the resolution said.

In another resolution adopted at the meet, the Sangh appealed to the Central and state governments to protect the economic interests of the country from the “onslaught of anti-people economic policies and globalisation”.

It appealed to the people to launch a campaign to mobilise public opinion in favour of “pro-Swadeshi” and “self reliant economic model”.

It also expressed concern over reports that terrorism might even use the FDI route to pump funds in the country.
