Yogic Confusions!

via HK published on March 19, 2007

The beauty of the Indian scriptures is that it can be loved, criticized, hated, studied, twisted and understood to satisfy our spiritual needs.

Some of the most famous studies that came out of scriptures like Ayurveda and  Yoga have been Hinduism’s greatest contribution to the modern day world and has remained aloof from  the politics of this century till the Semitic religions started drubbing it as communal.

Recently the surya namskar campaign was called a pro RSS campaign by many of our pseudo secular activists in the country. But a recent directive from the central government has made people sit -up. It has angered the christian and Muslim organisation who till today called
the practice of yoga a Hindu practice.

A parliamentary committee headed by Raul Gandhi has recommended all school children between 6 to 18 to attend yoga classes compulsorily.”Yoga helps one to achieve all-round development. Considering the immense potential of this ancient knowledge of India, the committee recommends that yoga be made compulsory for all school going children in the country,” the 32-member panel said.

Christin group say its unfair and is against the secular constitution of India. The Christan groups in the west have  been propagating the fact that practicing yoga meant children should recite Hindu chants which was against the secular constitution. Thy have no words when asked about the Christian prayers and signs in government funded minority institutions across the country.

They see it as a ploy to cut into nationalist rightist votes of the BJP. Yoga is a old Hindu healing science leading back to 2500BC. No other religion in the world has anything similar to offer.Christian missionaries have been changing the face of Yoga by imputing christian names and christian chants as thyy now realise  that this form of excersise is here to stay and cannot be simply wished away.
