Amrita Institute to start free healthcare programme in rural areas
KOCHI: The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) will start a free healthcare programme for the rural poor, general secretary of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math Swami Purnamritananda Puri said on Thursday.
In a release here, Swami Purnamritananda said in the first year, 300 families would be selected and treatment facilities to the extent of Rs 10,000 per family given.
The programme would cover general medicine, surgery, gynaecology and paediatric services, he said.
He also announced that Mata Amritanandamayi would take part in the two-day Brahmasthanam temple festival here on April 28 and 29.
