Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has banned a book in which an “imaginary picture” of Prophet Mohammad was printed by the publisher, officials said here on Thursday.
“The book Udiyaman Bhartiya Samaj Mein Sikshak, which carried an imaginary picture of Prophet Mohammad, has been banned by the government after approval of Governor B L Joshi,” a senior home department official said.
He said the ban had been imposed citing reason that printing picture was against the tenet of Islam and could hurt religious sentiments of a particular religion, which may further lead to law and order situation.
