Chennai:Condemning the attitude of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on the Ram Sethu issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party sought to know from the Dravidian party the rationale behind organising a bandh in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to newspersons, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said the party took strong exception to the DMK organising attacks on Hindu Munnani, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the offices in Tamil Nadu.
“What are they protesting for and whom they were protesting against? The issue is before the Supreme Court. Is the protest against the Supreme Court or against its own government?” he asked.
He said the BJP had enough political strength to weather the onslaught.
Naidu asked the Congress to break its silence on the issue and speak out its mind on such matters where agitators have violated law.
The ruling party in Tamil Nadu has called for a state-wide bandh on October 1.
Meanwhile, the BJP office bearers who were to discuss the Tamil Nadu developments, postponed their meeting to September 27 in view of the death of senior party leader K Jana Krishnamurthi in Chennai no Tuesday morning.
