VHP Dharma Sansad meets tomorrow
Udupi (Karnataka), Sept. 27 (PTI): Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Dharma Sansad (Religious Parliament) would meet tomorrow to decide on the future course of action on Rama Sethu issue, Sri Vishwesha Theertha of Pejawar mutt said here today.
The pontiff who came to Udupi after completion of “Chaturmas Vratha” in Tamil Nadu, told reporters here that he was deeply hurt by the statement of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Lord Ram and Ram Sethu.
He said he was ready for a debate on the character of Lord Ram based on Valimiki Ramayana. “I am ready for a peaceful and friendly discussion on the matter,” he said.
The pontiff said Karunanidhi may be an atheist, but as the Chief Minister of a state, he had no right to impose his views and criticise those who believe in God.
He clarified that he was not against the Ram Sethu project. However, respecting the sentiments of people, alternative solutions should be taken with regard to the project, he added.
