Tamil Nadu govt has lost constitutional right to rule: BJP
NEW DELHI: BJP on Monday said the Tamil Nadu government had lost the constitutional right to stay in power as several parts of the state struck work defying the Supreme Court stay on the bandh call given by the ruling DMK.
“Tamil Nadu is facing a situation of constitutional breakdown. It has no right to stay in power,†BJP president Rajnath Singh told reporters here. He also asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Union Minister T R Baalu, who had criticised the apex court’s directive.
In Chennai, Baalu had criticised the judiciary and said that ‘it should stay within limits’.
The Union Minister wondered whether the courts were giving the right decisions. “Why would there be appeals or higher benches if every judge was right,†Baalu asked.
