Two Army Majors killed in J&K encounter
JAMMU: Two Army Majors got killed in an encounter with the militants in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir. However, two militants were also killed in the ongoing encounter when the last report came in.
Major K P Vinay died on spot while Major Raman who was critically injured during the gun battle breathed his last at the Army base hospital at 1 AM.
Security forces had launched an operation to flush out militants in the area following specific information about the presence of militants in the forest. Army PRO Col AK Mathur informed Times Now, “The battle is still on. As many as four to five militants are still in the hideout.” The encounter with militants has been on for the past 20 hours.
The fierce gun battle between militants and security forces took place in the remote village yesterday (October 2, 2007). The operation followed specific inputs on the presence of militants in the area.
