Real face of Left Parties exposed in Nandigram-BJP

via PTI published on November 11, 2007

New Delhi:Describing the situation in Nandigram as “war-like”, the BJP on Sunday slammed the Centre and the West Bengal government over the continuing violence there and decided to send a party delegation to affected areas in a couple of days for assessment on the ground.

The party vowed to raise the issue during the upcoming Parliament session as it alleged that West Bengal’s CPI(M) government was being protected by the Centre despite Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi’s report and continuing violence in Nandigram.

“The situation in Nandigram has completely gone out of administration’s control… My gravest concern is over the war-like situation which has cropped up in Nandigram,” BJP President Rajnath Singh said in a statement here as violence continued for the sixth day.

Attacking the CPI(M), he said the “Marxian way of establishing an SEZ through unprecedented violence is unacceptable for any civilised society.”

Singh said the violence in Nandigram has “exposed the real face of the Left parties whose concern for the ‘aam aadmi’ (common man) has given way to their gross insensitivity towards humanity.”

Contending that the overall situation in the state “clearly reflects the complete breakdown” of law and order, the BJP chief demanded that those responsible for violence be brought to book and victims be suitably compensated.

The four-member delegation, led by senior leader S S Ahluwalia, will visit Nandigram in a couple of days for assessment of the situation on the ground. On the basis of its report, the party will raise the matter in Parliament.
