KASARGOD: RSS Sarsanghchalak K.S. Sudarshan said here on Sunday that the whole Muslim world had protested when prophet Mohammed was denigrated in cartoons in the Western media and similarly the Christians had protested when there was a controversy on Jesus Christ.

But there has been no protest when Sri Ram was denigrated by calling him a mythical character.

Addressing a rally of the RSS held at the Talipadapu maidan here on Sunday in connection with the two-day baitak of the Sangh, Sudarshan said though the Hindus had joined the protest against the remarks on prophet Mohammed and Christ, the Hindus themselves were not protesting when Hindu gods and heroes were denigrated and insulted by DMK leader M. Karunanidhi.

He said Sri Ram was not a mythical character. But the people worship Jesus and believe in the story of Adam and Eve. He said the belief in Sri Ram is part of the Hindu heritage and nobody can destroy that belief.

Regarding the Ram Sethu, he said demolishing the bridge was environmentally hazardous and it will not do any good. If the Ram Sethu was to be demolished it will affect the livelihood of fourteen lakh fishermen in Tamil Nadu.

Besides, about two hundred varieties of fishes will disappear from the sea. Sudarshan said the Ram Sethu can protect the land even from natural calamities such as tsunami.

The RSS chief said the demolition of the Ram Sethu was the brain child of Union Minister T.R. Balu and DMK leader Karunanidhi.
