Assam-BJP Leader Shot Dead
Guwahati: BJP State leader Munindra Sigh Lahkar was shot dead by suspected ULFA terrorists . In a separate incident Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA Padma Hazaria survived an assassination attempt in another attack guerrilla attacks in Assam, officials said on Friday.
The attacks on two politicians come just ahead of the local Panchayat elections in Assam scheduled to begin from Dec 31. Recently ASDC-BJP alliance made a clean sweep of the NC Hills Autonomous Council elections in Assam , winning 21 out of the 27 seats and registered a severe jolt to the Congress, which could win only three seats
