Senior RSS leader Babuaji passes away

PATNA: Noted social worker and former Sangh Chalak (North Eastern Region) of RSS Krishna Ballabh Prasad Narain aka Babuaji (93) breathed his last on Tuesday.

Babuaji died due to brain haemorrhage which he suffered on August 15 this year. He was was being treated at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS).

The RSS leader was considered to be a dedicated worker of the RSS. He came under the influence of the Sangh at an early age. He had to his credit establishment of the Gaya branch of the RSS. He had also taken part in the Quit India movement for which he was lodged in the Bhagalpur jail.

His active live continued even after independence of the country and he actively took part in the RSS movement against the ban imposed on the outfit after the murder of Mahatma Gandhi for which he was jailed. The RSS leader was once again jailed in 1977 for taking part in a movement against the Emergency imposed by the then Congress government led by Indira Gandhi. His active life continued even after this and Babuaji had to go to jail once again in 1992 for joining the movement launched in protest against the ban on the RSS in the aftermath of the demolition of Babri mosque.

Babuaji was also active in the field of education, art and culture and had to his credit efficient running of the Nalanda College in Biharsharif. He was also associated with a famous cinema hall of Patna.

A condolence meeting would be held in the Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir on December 20 to pay respect to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, condolence messages continued to pour in after the news of his death was flashed. BJP spokesperson Ravishanker Prasad, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and former Union minister and senior BJP leader Dr C P Thakur expressed shock over the death of Babuaji.
