 PP Mukundan wins Mahashivaratri Puraskar

Senior leader of the RSS and BJP and one of the towering figures in the political firmament of the State, PP Mukundan, has been awarded the prestigious Mahashivartri Puraskar. The award, established by the Mahashivaratri Trust under the patronage of Sankaracharaya of Sringeri Mutt Shri Shri Bharathi Theertha Swamiji, is considered a prestigious one for social workers.
The award is given to PP Mukundan for his four decade old social service .
PP Mukundan was born in 1946 in Manathana in Kannur District, North Kerala. He joined RSS as a full- time Pracharak at the age of 18.
He worked as RSS District Pracharak, Vibhagh Pracharak and Prantheeya Sambarkka Pramukh, Kerala.
He was deputed to BJP in 1991 as organising secretrary, Kerala to strengthen and reform BJP.
He proved his calibre as an excellent organiser and rose to the position of Kshestreeya Organising Secretary, South Zone and was member of BJP National Executive Committee. His charisma enabled him to win the affection of all political leaders and ordinary persons cutting across party lines. Fondly known as Mukundettan, he is considered as one of the major source of strength of the cadres of the Sangh Parivar owing to his grassroot contacts and his simple style of living.
While speaking to The Pioneer the maverick leader said, “He beliefs that politics should be instrumental in bringing peace and harmony in society.”
When riots rocked the State following some incidents of communal issues in Chalai, Thiruvananthapuram, it was he who led the damage-control exercise from the front while he was the Thiruvananthapuram Vibhag Pracharak.
He is the founder of Shreyas Charitable Trust, Bharathiya Kalapeedam, Centre for Studies and Development Strategies and Janakalyan Samithi. He is a member of PN Panicker foundation, Kerala.
After four decades of selfless service in RSS and BJP, he has now dedicated his life for the uplift of marginalised in Society.
