Mumbai is for Indians, But what about Kashmir – Asks Gadkari

Thiruvananthapuram: State BJP leaders and supporters accorded a warm welcome to BJP National President Nitin Gadkari here in the airport and later he attended the Press Meet at Press Club in Thiruvananthapuram.

He demanded a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee into “speculative transactions” of the commodity exchange for the runaway inflation, particularly food.

“The speculative, manipulative transactions of the commodity exchange has created artificial volume of essential commodities like wheat, sugar and potato. This has pushed prices of these commodities up in the market,”

“I strongly demand immediate appointment of a JPC to inquire and investigate this commodity exchange-price rise Maha Ghotala (major scam),” he said. Gadkari charged that India was facing record inflation due to the Congress-led UPA government’s wrong economic policies. “It is the failure of a great economist as Prime Minister,” he said.

To a question on his description of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar as “cricket minister”, Gadkari said Pawar was always engaged in cricket. “Let him play cricket, but let him not play with the lives of people,” he said alluding to price rise affecting common man.

He also said his party does not agree with the Sena slogan that Mumbai is for Mumbaikars. “We believe that Mumbai is for all Indians. We believe in unity in diversity.” Gadkari dared the Congress and the Left to proclaim that Srinagar was also open to all Indians like Mumbai. As long as Article 370 was in force, Indians from other parts cannot not buy land and live there, he said.
