Karnataka-JD(S), Cong Leaders join BJP
Mysore: Congress and JD(S) in Chamarajanagar district suffered a severe jolt today when prominent leaders of JD(S) and Congress joined BJP today.
JD(S) General Secretary and farmers’ leader Mallesh, former Chairman of Paints and Varnish H.N. Nagarajamurthy (former Chamarajanagar District Congress President) were among hundreds of leaders and workers who joined the party at a meeting at Town Hall here this morning.
Nearly a thousand activists witnessed the event as former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa welcomed them by handing over party flags.
The leaders who joined BJP, included Nageshraj, M.K. Ravindra, Srinivasamurthy and Kayyamballi Nataraj.
The activists from Chamarajanagar arrived at the venue in 18 private buses.
Speaking on the occasion, Yeddiyurappa said that the Chamarajanagar leaders had joined the BJP at the ‘right time.’
He declared that he would order free power supply to 16 lakh irrigation pumpsets within 24 hours if he forms BJP Government in the State.
Lok Sabha member C.H. Vijayashankar, former Minister G.T. Devegowda, former MLA H.S. Shankaralingegowda, leader H.V. Rajiv, Dr. D. Thimmaiah, MLC Thontadarya, city BJP General Secretary Siddharaju were present.
Earlier,Yeddyurappa held a meeting in regard to the women’s rally to be held on Mar. 25 in city which will be addressed by former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj.
