Amrithanandamayi Mutt hands over 63 houses

KOLLAM: Amrithanandamayi Mutt on Wednesday handed over keys of 63 houses constructed at Kozhikode near Karunagaplly.

Amrithanandamayi Mutt Trust vice-chairman Swami Amrithaswaroopanandapuri handed over the keys to Civil Supplies Minister C.Divakaran. District Collector A.Shajahan distributed the keys.

With this, the Amrithanandamayi Mutt has completed 1400 houses under the tsunami rehabilitation scheme. So far, 6200 houses have been completed for the tsunami victims by the Mutt in different parts of the country. The Mutt has been engaged in the construction of houses for the past three-and-a-half years.

Receiving the keys of houses, Civil Supplies Minister C.Divakaran said the Mutt had been doing things which no government could have undertaken. He said if the government had undertaken the construction of these 1200 houses it would not have been completed by this time.

He said the Mutt had spent Rs.60 crore for a small place like Alappad. Swami Amrita Swaroopanandapuri delivered the benedictory address. Alappad Panchayat president Raja Das and others attended the function.
